The partnership aims to enhance the login process for Web 3 users by introducing a new ‘Web 2.5 experience’ for logging in to decentralized applications (DApps) and wallets.
EVM-based blockchain for data Flare has entered a strategic partnership with Web3Auth, a leading wallet-as-a-service (WaaS) provider for Web 2 and Web 3 apps, to improve the login experience for both Web 3 and non-Web 3 users. The partnership aims to enable simple access to Web 3 apps and boost the adoption of Web 3 wallets.
According to the team’s statement, the partnership will allow Flare users to log in to their wallets using their email or social login credentials. This removes the over-reliance on seed phrases for creating or accessing Web 3 wallets on Flare. Seed phrases, while safer than traditional login systems, are easy to forget or prone to human error, which makes them difficult and complex for non-Web 3 users to manage.
By partnering with Web3Auth, users will be able to log in to their wallets using existing Google, Apple, Telegram, Discord and all OAuth-supported accounts to access their decentralized wallets. Web3Auth provides a mid-point for convenience and security via their login system, improving the user experience while accelerating the adoption of Web 3 DApps and wallets.
“Onboarding non-Web3 users is a major hurdle for existing dApps and developers,” commented Flare Senior Solidity Engineer Filip Koprivec. “A decentralized and secure way of combining classical social login with Web3 authentication means that new users no longer need to set up the private keys but can use the product immediately.”
Integrating Web3Auth’s wallet login solution enhances the experience for both mainstream and crypto-native users, providing an easy login process that’s been used for accessing web and mobile platforms for decades. In addition, developers building on the Flare network can significantly increase their user base and streamline their adoption process, as more non-Web 3 users join their platform.
To enhance security, Web3Auth allows the retention of non-custodial characteristics of a wallet management system. This means that users retain full control and ownership over their wallets and assets, maintaining the security and ethos of a blockchain wallet.
Flare becomes the latest platform to introduce this novel ‘Web 2.5 experience’ to its DApps and wallets, to offer a seamless authentication experience for everyone. Over 500 Web 2 and Web 3 apps currently use Web3Auth’s services including Web2 brands like Universal Studio, Fox.com, SK Telecom, and Web3 projects like Binance Extension, Metamask, Kepler, Kukai, Skyweaver, Kash, and Coub.
